Biography: 

Dr Bingang Xu is Associate Professor in Institute of Textiles and Clothing at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He serves now as the Discipline Leader of Fashion and Textile Technology in the department. Dr Xu has published over 160 book chapter, journal and conference papers, and also holds 11 granted patents. His research interests include theoretical modeling and numerical simulations, spinning technologies, wearable electronics, smart materials and systems, novel flexible sensors, energy harvesting / conversion / storage devices, and computational intelligence. In recent 4 years, Dr Xu has received a number of competitive research grants as Principal Investigator with external research funding over HK$6.62 million and internal funding of HK$1.27 million. His recent work on flexible energy devices and computer-vision model has been published in high-impact SCI journals such as Advanced Materials, Nano Energy, Small and IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics. As the Principal Investigator, Dr. Xu has led his team to consecutively win Gold Awards with the Congratulations of Jury in International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva in Switzerland, in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Dr Xu is now serving as a reviewer for over 30 international journals including Applied Mathematical Modeling, Neurocomputing, Textile Research Journal, Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials. He has been invited as Conference Co-chair, Keynote Speakers, and Section Chairs for a number of international conferences, and also served as a TPC member for over 20 international conferences with themes in advanced materials, energy and power, electrical engineering and automation, materials and environmental, mechanical and applied mathematics. Dr Xu is currently on the Editorial Board and also served as Guest Editor for a number of international journals, also served as External Assessor and Examiner for overseas research grant proposals and PhD thesis.
