标题: Production of hydroxyapatite on the surface of titanium alloys
摘要:
Titanium alloys are often used for the production of dental implants. Hydroxyapatite layer may improve the integration of the metal surface to the living bone tissue. The formation of Hydroxyapatite on the surface of Ti6Al7Nb and Ti6Al4V alloys was studied in this work. Samples of both alloys were oxidized be Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation in a water solution containing calcium acetate and calcium glycerophosphate. After the oxidation the samples were hydrothermally treated in water (pH=7) and in potassium hydroxide solution (pH=11) at 200°C in a pressurized reactor. The content and morphology of Hydroxyapatite layers formed on the surface of both alloys after the oxidation and subsequent hydrothermal treatment was studied. The surface morphologies, elemental composition and phase components were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy and X-Ray Diffraction. The surface roughness was measured by Atomic Force Microscope and thickness measurements were made by SEM and thickness gauge. Corrosion measurements were performed for the comparison of the corrosion behavior of the two alloys.
