Title: Solid textile waste to environment and its utilization
Abstract:
Solid textile waste is significant in terms of creating pollution to environment and living species on earth planet. Therefore, making best of textile waste is the current need of society and environment worldwide. With world population exceeding 7.9 billion people as of November 2021, the individual consumption of fiber and fabric products is enhancing. Fiber and textiles are the need of each individual resulting in the colossal solid waste to environment. A piece of clothing used prior being discarded decreased 36% in the past 15 years. The hazardous waste generated from the textile can be seen as pre- consumer solid waste (fiber, yarn, and fabric pieces), processing waste (volatiles, chemicals and effluent release during the process), and post- consumer waste (textile fabric, yarn, apparel, home textiles, technical textiles etc.) disposed to environment An environment- friendly approach is to design the products using textile and fiber waste. Such products can offer significant benefits in terms of pollution prevention, reduction in the hazardous industrial processes, and reduced raw materials consumption; in addition to offer profit margin when produced on commercial basis. This study will present the current situation of solid textile waste to environment, and some case studies on using the solid textile waste in designing the various products for home interior furnishing.
